  1. I would start with manners, it is always a great place to start to kick start them into fun and good behavior while learning! Below I have a couple of links for good ideas!

  2. I would like my child to have good manners. I would also like to have a child who never asked for stuff in stores so when they were little I would ignore them when they complained about something. I would also want them to exercise and play actively because if they sit around and watch Backyardigans all day, chances are they'll watch T.V. a lot when they get older. I also would want my children to eat healthy so I would only give them about a serving of junk food a day.

To try to teach this to them you should try telling storys like Goldilocks and the Three Bears which tells of Goldilocks who does not have the best of manners. You can also create your own stories or give original stories a twist. Hope this helps!

  3. I would like for children to say please and thank - excuse me instead of barging on through - no interrupting when someone is talking, especially two adults.  chewing with their mouths closed and no talking with food in their mouths.  That's a lot to expect from kindergarteners but you could tackle one thing at a time.

  4. I think that a good activity would be a hands on activity.  This would be like yo bringing in either plastic foods, or the real stuff if possible.  Then you could have examples of good choices and bad choices. You could explain to them the healthy stuff, then explain why doughnuts... etc. are not good.  Then, you could have two baksets, and they could help you figure out where the stuff goes after you have explained it once.  If the children can help you put it in the basket, it means more to them.  Hands on stuff is the best way for young children to learn.

You could also talk about other ways to be healthy like exercizing, and then have them do some jumping jacks or something fun like that.

  5. manners: Please and thank you

Eating habits: politeness and healthy foods

    exercise, etc.

one way you could have them learn about these things is you could have them draw pictures of something for example, something unhealthy, or healthy etc. and after they are done you could ask each child to present his/her drawing to the class and ask the class to try to decide if it is healthy or not. You could also read the kids books about the topic and ask them about different aspects afterwards. Also you can have them do other projects reflecting on the topic such as clay or painting and talk about it afterwards.

    I hope this helped!

  6. I am a storyteller too and find that using books to be a good way to show children good habits, about food and exercise etc.

I always plan physical activities such as sticky kids warm up tapes for exercise, use the home corner for a picnic area to learn good habits for food and have roleplay using puppets to learn good habits such as please, thankyou etc.
