  1. Tents and torches always go down well. Mirrors in interesting arrangements and looking at themselves in different lights. I always answer these sorts of questions with - provide some basic resources eg mirrors or various sizes, torches, white screens, etc and just see what the children make of it all. They always have the very best ideas and unless they are interested and inspired, they won't learn anything.

  2. Try www.sparklebox.co.uk- amazing resource site that may inspire you

  3. Groundhog day is a great shadow activity.   Shine a flashlight on the child to show him his shadow on the wall or if it's a sunny day, go outside and let them play shadow tag - where you step on the other person's shadow.

Put a piece of paper outside in the sunlight with a die cut on top and at the end of the day, bring it in and show them how the sun has faded the paper.

  4. I don't understand ... could you give more details?

On the topic of shadow you could have a guessing game - "who's shadow is that?" and the other kids have to guess.

  5. you could have them bring in their favotie items, and you yourself bring a flashlight - illuminate behind their items, and move it slowly around the item, to have them see the effect of the changing shadow.

for sunbeams - bring in some prizms - they can see the light refracting in the prizsm, and try to "touch' the rainbow.

for reflections - bring in mirros of all sizes (also, some disco ball type mirrors - like christmas tree onrnaments) would be good.  mirrors, or other reflective things (shiny aluminum foil) would be good to bounce light off of.
