  1. some kind of ratiation waves from the sun that the earth protects itself by drawing them to the poles of the earth, somethin like that

  2. There are many good sites that are even easy to use that will help you with that for school, as listed below.

  3. The nNortheren Lights are Strong solar winds slamming into the earths magnetic field at 600,000 MPH. The solar winds are charged particals.these charged particals colide with molecules of nitrogen and oxygen ( co2 and o2 ) making them glow. The stronger the wind the brighter and bigger the auroras. In fact on march 12-13 1989 Natinol weather service stations as far south as Brunswick GA. reported Auroras.at 2:44 a.m on the 13th, a voltage regulator on a power line from Hydropower dams in northeren Quebec shut down. less than 90 seconds later, lights flickeredout in Montreal and most of Canada's Quebec Province. Some places were with out power for a week.

  4. The Northern Lights are caused by supercharged particles from the sun hitting the atmosphere.

  5. The sun's magnetic field releases charged particles into space.  As these particles near Earth they get drawn in by the Earth's magnetic field.  They then get drawn to the Earth's magnectic Poles (North Pole in this case).  As the particles near our atmosphere they collide with the gases.  This creates a recation called energy and this energy is seen as lights we call the Northern Lights.

  6. Sun Flares from the convection layar of the sun coming through the sun spots and hitting earth with particles at the poles.
