  1. Extra water(bildge) pumps...maybe a few gas driven. If it is steel, I would increase the height of the bow to take waves...you did say DEEP SEA.

Make sure you can seal and lock openings(ports).

    Autopilot and a spare?

Ways to steer if steering linkage or rudder breaks? Is rudder prevented from dropping out of the boat?

Think safety...there's plenty to consider...it's your life man, guard it. Get an overboard liferaft as well with a ditch bag, registered 406epirb  and supplies.

    Good luck, be careful

  2. are you talking lee board sailing barge ? in wood or steel  have seen 2 dutch lee board barge yacht conversins  short masted  schoner riged  and had twin diesel engine  more motor sailer than sail boat  email me with more info if i can help

  3. You might report me for this but....you're nuts!

That vessel was not designed for ocean crossings.  It wasnt even designed for channel crossings for that matter.

Sure, there are some Nuts that make it, but the channel is filled with riverboats and longboats.

What do you intend to do about roll stability?

What will you do when broached by wave?

Say you manage to get this hog into the wind, what happens when your bow crests on a 30' swell?

    take lots of life preservers.

Stop being cheap and get a good boat for the job.
