What adhesive is used in iphone front glass?

my iphone fell on the ground and crack, but fortunately it still functions the only element that got damaged was the front glass, i purchased an OEM front glass from ebay, but now i am a li'l as to what adhesive to use... is it glue? (if so what is the best to use?) or is it a double coated transparent tape (again whats the best that will fit in here) links to the item will be much appreciated... has anyone gone through this process? if so can you please advice me the type of adhesive you used... TIA

As far as I know, the glass part of the screen is fused onto the LCD at the factory. I do not believe you will be able to replicate this process at home. While your eBay auction said OEM glass, I doubt it really is OEM, as usually the fix for this problem is to replace the entire screen assembly.

So you have two options:

1) Go to the Apple store, tell them you dropped your phone. They will replace it with a refurbished model for $199 (8gb) or $249 (16gb).

2) If you are able to upgrade through AT&T, you can buy a 3G iPhone for a similar cost.

Otherwise, I would be on the lookout for either the entire screen assembly, or a phone that is being sold for parts that still has an intact screen.

The touchscreen isn't bonded to the LCD panel, this causes it to distort when you touch it. Instead, a thin tape bonds at the perimeter. VHB is widely used for this.

If this is what you bought then the job is easier. Otherwise I think you'll have a hard time peeling the old touch screen off the LCD without killing it. So Tia is pretty much right.
