Question:

What advantages do quiet people have over those who are too sociable?

One advantage I could think of is...it is easier to determine when something is wrong with a certain person just by looking at the way they are behaving. That is of course, as long as you are exposed to the same people over and over. On the other hand, someone who is too social might not even have the time to notice this unless the person who has something wrong with them makes it really obvious.

  1. I'm a quiet person. I get lost in my thoughts all the time. I have a good imagination. Talkers like me because I listen. I like to listen because there's plenty to be heard. Plenty to learn. Lots of insight to glean only through close listening. But I dont like ramblers. Say what's on your mind and shut up. I have thinking to do.

  2. Somebody said that it is "better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt..."

  3. People who talk too much, often say too much and at time wrong things, that although they may not have been planning to say but do so cause they have the habit of talking too much.  They have time to talk, but seldom to listen to anything being said, cause they are too busy thinking what they want to say next.  Whereas quiet people are more inclined to listen and calmly rationalize their answers, before offering an opinion, NOT ADVICE.  Listening is a skill that can usually make out what kind of a person you are talking to.  After a while you tend to avoid certain people cause you know that it is ALL TALK and NO SUBSTANCE.  Quiet people usually have FRIENDS, whereas talkative people usually have plenty of Acquaintances, cause lets face it, no one enjoys being around people, who are always yapping away and seldom giving others a chance to speak.  They enjoy hogging all the attention by being LIFE OF THE PARTY, and sometimes end up giving their friends complexes.

  4. they hear the full conversation

thus learning the pitfalls of most situations.

  5. Introverts have the time to reflect on things.

  6. Quiet people have fewer advantages, the reflecting time, okay, but other than that they tend to make others uneasy because:

-others may see them as snobs

-others may get paranoid at what the quiet one thinks about

-others may see them as self-centered using shyness as a tactic to obtain attention and concern from others

-others may pass them by in work promotions and opportunities because the squeaky wheel gets the grease - noisy employees tend to move up faster

-the quiet may not have built up enough social networks to help them get out of a jam or just move up in life - they tend to be out of the loop

  7. there are actually a lot. especially as people mature. true, sociables  get eaten by tigers and it still applies until now, sociable people most of the time are the ones being seen, so as to being criticised, being the source of irritations and annoyance.

sociable people reveal a lot, which makes them the ladder of the quiet opportunists.

quiet people are safe. it says it all.

and the major thing on my observations is that, though the sociables get the seats fame and glamour, the quiets get the seats of respect and real royalty.

though still sociables also have some advantages over the quiets.

  8. Quiet people in my opinion are usually the ones who know the "deal", ya know what I mean? they are watching and listening and processing the details in their heads and thinking about what they say before they say it. Thus giving them the advantage of not sounding like a blundering idiot with their responses..lol

My take on an over-sociable person is that they are lacking some where in their self-security and they look to their social life for validation. The more they can dominate a conversation the more attention is drawn to them and it increases the social contact that they will have.  This is not necessarily a "bad" thing, just can be a little off putting to those not so sociable. They can seem insecure and yet overbearing at the same time.

  9. The shy people are safe because if anything bad such as abusive happens such as name calling, hatred by teachers etc. it mostly goes to the loud kids. Most shy people are incredibly smart too as I have learned.

  10. Quiet people are mysterious. Nobody knows what's under that shell, and when they see what IS under there they are either pleasantly, or horribly surprised.

PS....Quiet people seem to be the wildest in situations.

  11. you mean in human evolution? sociable people get eaten by tigers while theu socialize outdoors, and quiet people stay indoors
