  1. Do lots of running the grinder can be a killer. Oh yeah lots of push ups. Lots and lots of push ups.

Don't forget to leave your dope at home. Yeah I saw it happen. Not to me but you'd be surprised at the people that join.

  2. Forget your 'rights', 'feelings', 'wants', 'desires', etc. When you step off of that bus, they will own you; mind, body, and spirit. You won't have the 'right' to eat, sleep, or S**t. Those are all privileges that can be taken away at any time.  You are entering upon voluntary slavery, but slavery, none the less.

If you approach military basic training with the attitude that you have just committed suicide and all life is a gift from your instructors, you will get through it easily. If you go into it thinking that you are a person, endowed with any rights at all, it will be difficult.

In today's military, instructors can't assault you, swear at you, or make you exercise your way into the hospital. That is a reflection of today's weaker recruits (mentally and physically). Up until the 1970's, they could punch you in the face for talking back, drill you into cardiac arrest, and tell you what they know about your mother. If you can handle the latter, then the former will be a breeze.

  3. Dont drink the water.

  4. just keep your mouth closed follow the rules to a T... say yes petty officer and never say SORRY petty officer... just say i apologize... and be able to do 100 pushups on the spot! youll get a canteen so you can drink plenty of water... and yes drink the water... never fall aleep unless you are in bed and learn the 1000 yard stare... dont make eye contact....

  5. 1. Follow orders

    2. Try your hardest - never say I can't do it - just do it.

    3. Remember - yes sir

    4. pay attention and learn - that is your #1 priority

    5. when you leave boot - and go to your A school - study study...keep your head in the books - there will be plenty of time to party after school. Then you will have a good reason to... normally the top of the class will get the best follow on orders out of all those available.

    6. Forget about home and concentrate on your new family while you're in boot camp.

  6. My husband tells this to everybody, including his son who shipped out Last November:

you have two ears, two eyes and one mouth.  use in proportion.
