Question:

What (affordable) options do I have for streaming multimedia from my computer to my television?

My stereo receiver just took a c**p. It had a USB port and I would download my music library to a flash drive and just play it through the USB port. Now that it has passed on, I would really like to replace it with an all-in-one receiver (with a built-in amp) / multimedia player (wired or preferably wireless) that will play music and video, etc... from my computer. I'm not sure it exists. If not, I would still like suggestions on an affordable way ($100 or less???) to USB or wirelessly stream mutimedia from my computer to my television (laptop has no S video or TV out). Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance - Jim

  1. Go to Radioshack and ask around, trust me.

  2. I am sorry to report this but you will not be able to find such a solution for $100.00, let alone less than that. You would require a wireless solution, a wireless digital media receiver, and they cost more than that.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows...

The link above will take you to the Microsoft Windows Media website. On it you can locate a lot of information, and go to forums to receive assistance on all sorts of media issues for home solutions. Look at the bottom of the page at some hardware, but there are more, this just gives you an idea of what you meed. Look to to right, and locate the link for forums. There is where you will get the best answers and the best assistance for setting it all up once you locate the device which will work best for your home. I can tell you that you will much, much, prefer this solution to plugging in your USB drive!

However, it can be expensive. Prices are dropping, but it will be a while yet until they are under a $100.00. Sorry about that. The price is an issue I have too. My son uses an Xbox for his needs, and I want one, but have bills he doesn't have to worry about yet. lol

Good luck and much fun when you do get your hardware all setup and working.

  3. I would just suggest getting speakers on your comp and playing it direct from the computer
