  1. 8 to 10 years old to get atracted to eny  other  totoise

  2. Herman's reach maturity between 5-8 years of age but it is nearer to 8 years  when they are ready to breed successfully, sometimes they are ready when they reach about 5 - 6 years, you can start to tell what s*x you have around 5 years of age, if the conditions are right for breeding they will breed, but the first few years you might not get very good eggs, what you also have to consider is a female tortoise can hold sperm for up to 3 years, so if you want to breed you will have to get the breeding pen right or the female will not lay eggs, it is an amazing thing the females do, and they won't settle for second best when it comes to their egg laying, here is a site that might be of some use to you http://www.tortoisetrust.org/ it has some really good articles on tortoise keeping and it also has articles on breeding, egg incubation and how to house hatchlings, hope you find what you are looking for best of luck honey.
