  6. Oooh! ooh! I know this!

A person has to be over the age of 18 to purchase alcohol in South Africa.

    HOWEVER....

Should a child (age not important) be with a parent or legal guardian, the said child may consume alcohol with the parent or guardian's permission.

This rings true for private parties, or within a restaurant.

The catch is that the parents have to be there at all times with the child. So, if you are in a beer tent for instance, and the police raid, and the child is unaccompanied, parents get locked up for allowing the child to drink without supervisiomn, and the owner of the place gets a hefty fine and or improsonment as well as revocation of his liquor license.

  7. Legally 18

  8. Yes the others are correct. You must be 18 to buy or to drink. Same with smoking.

  11. i don't really know but many places are 18 or 21 for the fact that alcohol damages the liver and before you're around those ages, your liver isn't fully developed and ruins it if too much alcohol is drank before those ages.
