  1. Rabbits reach sexual maturity at around 6-8 months, but some does take longer than others.  To check to see if she is ready, check the vaginal area.  If it is purplish instead of pink, she is ready.  And to see if she will accept the buck, scratch her at the base of the neck and watch if she lifts up her tail.  Then she's ready to breed.  Good luck.

  2. 1-2 years old

  3. Please, do not breed your rabbit.

    1. When they go at it, there's like 10 of them in one litter

    2. Because of that, there are sooo many that need a home

    3. Rescuing one is a much better idea :)

  4. Wow, interesting answers so far! Hopefully this will help:

Most rabbit breeds mature between the ages of 6-8 months. Some breeds CAN successfully breed between 4-5 months, so some people start their bucks (males) at this age. But in my opinion, a doe (female) should not be bred until 6 months of age, as she will be the one physically carrying and caring for the litter.

That being said, even if you decide not to breed right at 6 months old, the doe ideally should be bred (for the first time) before she turns 1 year old. After she reaches this age, it is often harder to get the doe bred for the first time, and it is harder for her to successfully kindle and raise a litter of kits.

So for these reasons, ideally, you want to start your doe between the ages of 6-12 months.

After that, most does will continue to produce up until the age of 4 years old...even older sometimes if you keep them in production.

  5. six months. one year is too long for first breeding.

  6. Never

  7. I would wait until shes a year old!

  8. 1 - 2 yrs old is not true. If your gonna use your rabbit for breeding, then she should be bred before reaching the age of 1 due to health issues. I recomend between 8 months and 1 year old. Also before you breed make sure you know everything about it and that you have furture homes for you baby bunnies selected.

  9. 1-2 year ask your pet shop 2 be sure or go to www.rspca.co.uk

  10. it depends on the breed.

small breeds are ready at about 6 months.

large breeds are ready to breed around 8 months.

extra tip:to breed rabbit, place the female on the males cage.NEVER place the male on the females' cage as the male will just spend his time sniffing th cage and will not do what he must do.

    i hope i helped!
