really... its just hair! I went crazy with my hair, in middle school and my parents were just thankful i chose hair instead of s*x, drugs or other things!

I say when he enters junior high. Kids have their fashions and should be allowed to cut or keep his hair longer is ok with me.Of all the things as a parent has to worry about, the length of their son's hair really shouldn't be up there. I have a son and he'll keep his hair the way he likes when he's 12. I think at that point, his hairstyle will be the reflection of his personality, not mine.
