  1. Cute and true story: When my niece was one day she was laying on my moms shoulder right beside her moms hospital bed facing her mom and her mom lifted her head in the hospital bed and as soon as she did it my niece lifted her head too. My mom told my sister to lay back down. And too when my sister laid back down my niece did too!

  2. About 3 mths he got it really good but he tried since i had him

  3. My daughter was really strong from the day she was born. She can hold her head up by herself and she is 10 weeks old. Of course we still take caution and give her extra support just in case

  4. it was probably around 3 months

  5. During tummy time at about 6 weeks. Supported sitting around 8 weeks with full control around 12 weeks.

  6. since birth but the nurses said they are usually 1-2 months before they can do that

  7. I do not remember for my daughter but my son had awesome head control from birth.  I came home from the birthing center 5 hours after he was born and he would literally pick his head up off my chest and look around.

At his 2 month appt the dr even commented on his neck strength and that there was no need to support his head as he could do it completely on his own and had been able to for a while.

Each baby is different but I think  3-4 months is generally when they are strong enough to hold it for a while and complete control by 6 months.

  8. My son started holding his head up at 3 weeks. He is now 7 weeks and does it without help and it doesnt wobble anymore.

  9. He would lift it up for a few seconds right after birth.

Around 3 weeks he could hold it up briefly while on his tummy - the effort of it always seemed to make him frustrated and grouchy though

Around 7 weeks he could support his own head while in the Bjorn so that he could look around.  Even while walking briskly, or sleeping he holds it up.

At 11 weeks I still support him when I hold him sideways, or if I am moving with a really jerky motion, but if he is upright he can hold is own head up.

The range of age when kids start doing this varies WIDELY.  Its like a 4 month span of normal.  My boy is also HUGE - already 16lbs at 11 weeks.

  10. OMG my little girl is 6 weeks 3 days and she is holding her's up. Its crazy! We call her supper Skylee..LOL she also stands for a good 30 sec when you hold her under her arms and have her stand on your legs while sitting down....I sware it freaks me out.

  11. My son was trying to hold his head up when he was born.  He's always had very strong neck muscles.  he hates to be burped and even when he was only a week old he would try to lean back to get away when I was burping him.  Haha.  He is 3 months now and always holds his head up, he won't let us support it anymore.

  12. birth - & she was 8 wks early!
