  1. it is not to old but just saying this but not to make u mad but starting at a young age is better

  2. You are never too old (especially at 15).  Go for it!

  3. 15 is not too old! :) Just be prepared to be around younger riders. I'm 16 1/2 and I'm an advanced beginner, most of the people in my lessons are no older than 12. It's kind of annoying because I want to meet people my own age who're at my level, but I love riding enough so that it doesn't really matter. :)

But go for it!! Riding is amazing and I'm now gonna go to college for my Bachelors in Equine Sciences.

So I say go for it and love every minute of it :) !!

  4. Not at all, a friend of mine started riding at 35 years old! Your never too old to start.

  5. NO WAY

  6. No WAY!! I started at like 4 but thats a different story :)

Horse back riding is for any age...and dont be scared to get involved with your local barn. It also helps to offer your help around the barn with chores etc so you can really learn about everything horses!!! Sometime if you make friends with others at the barn you can ride their horses. Best of luck, its really the best thing in world!

  7. You are NEVER too old to do ANYTHING...

Just look at the 80 year old woman that went sky diving for the first time to celebrate her birthday!!!

If my 88 year old grandmother isn't too old to go to Hawaii for the first time and go swimming at a black sand beach and that ^ woman wasn't too old to jump out of a plane then you are NO WHERE NEAR too old to learn to ride!~

  8. no 15 is an ok age to take lessons, i say go for it and have fun

  9. Im 14 and I still havent gotten lessons but I really want to.

ive heard people 50+ start to take lessons too.

IDK about extreme jumping and racing ones though.

  10. I started at 17 years old when I was able to pay for my own lessons with my job... I wish I started at 15!! Have fun!!

  11. no way! i started at 14, and am doing great! go for it!

  12. No you can start whenever! Good luck horse ridings great!!!

  13. No, 15 isn't too late to start. As a matter of fact, it's never to late to start. Horseback riding won't come as naturally to you as it would to riders who started earlier, but that doesn't mean that you can't be a great rider. Just remember that just because you took a few lessons doesn't mean that you can get a horse, trust me. If after you start riding you decide you want a horse, you are going to have to wait a few years to get a lot of horsey experience, and see how hard horse ownership is! But, remember, keep riding, because you can only get better.

  14. I started when I was eleven, but I didn't have consistent lessons until I was 14.  The classes really vary..I know most of the people I was riding with were seven or eight, but then there was also a 54 year old grandma who wanted to take lessons with her 5 year old granddaughter.  The woman is now a second level dressage rider and just bought her own horse, while her granddaughter, along with most of the younger kids, gave up ponies for ballet and guitar and soccer.  I think fifteen is a great age to start learning to ride because you are never to old to learn and you will be more likely to stick with the sport as you are mature enough to have decided you want to do it than all the kids whose parents throw them into every activity imaginable.  My mom was one of those parents with my sister and, consequently, she has now been enrolled in girl scouts, soccer, riding lessons, ballet, jazz, choir, tap dancing, guitar, piano, cheerleading, dance, and crafts.  And she doesn't really like any of them.  I have taken art classes and riding lessons only, both of which I love and both of which I plan to keep up with for forever.  I think you are a good age because you are choosing what you want to do and you become as easily discouraged from it as a six year old.  You will understand that things don't always go your way so you need to practice over and over without throwing a tantrum...the way some of those kids in my classes did!

  15. People start taking lessons at all different ages, so 15 is definitely NOT too old to start!  I started when I was 6, and I think that 8 is a pretty common age for kids to start, but I have also known quite a few adult beginners.  Don't compare yourself to others, just advance at your own pace and enjoy it!
