What age do you actually have to be in AL to find your birth parents?

I was adopted at two and a half weeks old and I am now 16 and I also know that i have one sister who is a year older than me and the last name is or most likely is King. I really dont want to miss out on anymore of my sisters life or any other siblings i may have so I would like to know how old I have to be to find out!

Alabama laws states your are an adult at the age of 19.  If your birth parents filed a consent to release documents you will automatically receive them at your request once you are of age.  If they have not filed for this consent, you must petition the courts to have the records opened and the court will appoint a confidential intermediary to locate and make contact with your parents.  Here is a site that explains how the laws are written.

Oh sweetheart, I know how bad that yearning is.  I hope you can hold on a couple more years - I bet it will go faster than you think

I wonder if your sister may have a myspace page or something like that.  If you know her name, I don't see why you guys should not be allowed to correspond.

I really hope your adoptive parents are supportive of you and you are able to speak with them about how you feel.  Can they put you in touch with your sister do you think?  have you asked?

I think you have to be 18 but, if your adoptive parents are willing to help you then they can look....I hope you find what you are looking for....
