My little girl is almost a year old and still doesn't sleep all night, any advice? She still wakes up for a bottle too. I tried the water and everything, she screams until she gets that bottle....

  1. If shes not ready then let her have it at night. If shes willing to take a sippy cup at night then give her that instead. My daughter was 15 months old before she quit taking bottles at night and started sleeping through the night but she still takes her sippy cup with ice water to bed at night and i don't have a problem with it. She is almost three.

  2. I introduced my son to sippy cups around nine months old and slowly weaned him off the bottle during the day. He did have a bottle before bed until until around his first birthday at which time we eliminated bottles all together.

I'd suggest starting her on a sippy cup as much as possible during the day. As fare as nighttime bottles go I'd suggest reducing the amount you give her little by little. She's used to drinking a bottle during the night the same as you and I are used to eating lunch. She screams because she's hungry and used to having a "meal" at that time. If you train her to take less then you can eventually eliminate the need for an overnight bottle all together.

Reduce the amount in her middle of the night bottle by 1/2 ounce every couple of days. Keep reducing it until she stops waking up for it. If she regresses and starts waking for the bottle after you've eliminated it just give her an ounce or two, then back off on the amount again until you no longer give it.

This could take some time to accomplish so don't feel rushed and let her cry for the bottle. With a little more time and patience you'll both be getting the sleep you need without any tears.

  3. You actually don't want to feed the baby anything in the bottle at night because of the high risk of ear infection. Just let her keep crying. As long as the baby's not running a fever, the diapers changed, and otherwise not hurt, let her cry. don't pay it any attention. That's what she wants. Just act like she's not around. It may take 2-3 weeks but it will happen. She will forget. Trust me I went through that 6 times. the two neices I raised at age 9  plus my own four.

  4. i think until they are about two. about that time for potty training. my son is 13 months and he still takes a bottle to bed. not juice, b/c it will rot their teethe and also milk or formula can cause them to have ayaest infection. it leaves bacteria in their mouth and can give them a really bad diaper rash. thats when your doctor will perscribe nistatin ointment. my poor baby's butt was so red it looked like red painted on his skin. was horrible. so now its 80% water and 20% gatorade-not red. good luck.

  5. Try giving her the sippy cups with the soft tops, they are like a bottle. During the day give her the hard ones and after a few weeks, months, whenever give her the hard top ones at night. Hope this helps!!!

  6. i think it is ok to have the bottle still just try to have her off by 2 i got my son off at 20 months and he is just fine and he came right off sippy cups and everything really quick and with the waking up at night try limiting the amount that you give her but my son was still waking up at that age so i think it is normal since every child is different hope this helps

  7. Feed her big time before sleep and make sure she is worn out the first few nights you try this.  Take the bottle away completely NOW. At 1 year she should be off the bottle completely.  Pacifier should have been gone at 6 months.

She is spoiled and you will have to break her of it if you ever want peace.  You will have to do this no matter when you decide you have had enough, so the sooner the better.

My son cried until he puked twice the first night and then once the second night. By the third night he was mostly done with the BS.
