Judging by a lot of the questions on here, i'd say 11. Then again, most kids take s*x ed class around 12-13 years old.

The basic idea of needing a man and a woman, at about 5 or 6...the details can slowly become clearer so they have full s*x education lessons by about 9 or 10.

i think they start talking about it in school around 4th grade(the teachers seperate the girls and boys, and they show those boring videos on how the body works blah blah blah)

A kid can start knowing at a relatively early age without knowing the details. You'll probably find that if an 8 year old wnat to know where baby's come from then all you need to say is that the dad gives the mum a gift that he puts into mum's belly and then the bay grows in the mum's belly. That child doesn't need to know how the gift is put there or how the bay comes out. they are likely not even to ask any further. The younger the child is the less detail they need and thus there is no need to dance around the subject with plain lies, just less detail. The older they get, the more they'll ask and all you need to do is add a little more detail relevant to their question. No lies and not too much information than they need. When they get to 13 or something then they need to start knowing all the details and safe s*x because these days, many people are have s*x in their very early teens and schools are teaching it anyway.

My daughter is 9 and already uses the word s*x in playground talk with her friends. She knows that its what adults do to make babies but she doesnt know what actually physically happens, and I wont be telling her this until she is older!

it depends where their evnivorment are or when puberty starts to kick in my friends lil brother is talking bout s*x nd knowing bout it at 10 so it depends around their tween-teen ages

Kids find this stuff out at about 12/13ish believing that they won't is stupid because its only natural. Whether they should be having s*x at that age is another topic entirely.

well it all depends on what people are talking about around them if you catch mydrift i learned about about it when i was 9 because of the people talking about it around me so i butted in...but it depends on if they hear the word see the word or even see it happening

but if they dont find out around10-13 then you have to tell them

I knew the basics at 6, but I didn't really understand the implications until about 9-10. All the repercussions and subsequent issues including s*x in relationships was at about 12-13. I guess I can only talk from my own experience, but my nephew seems to be following the same trend and he is 11. =oD

my kids were both 7 when they asked me. so i bought a book about it for their age group, and we sat down and discussed it. so i would say 7- 8.
