  1. my parents wouldn't allow me to wear it until i was about 14.

  2. I think 13 or 14 if it is lite and girly.  No black eyeliner, etc.

  3. Middle school for blush and lipgloss, high school for eye makeup and heavier face makeup. Less is more.

  4. 12 is a great age, but u have to make sure that it isnt too much.

Its ugly when teens over-do it, especially because alot of them dont know how to do their makeup.

Its good to start with mascara, lipgloss, and maybe some blush.

  5. Around age 10

  6. Around the age of 12-15. I started wearing makeup (foundation) around 13 because I have some acne.

  7. About 12-13.... meaning powder, light blush, lip gloss, light eyeshadow and clear mascara. At least that's what i could wear and that's what my kids will be allowed to wear.

  8. My mom got me my first makeup when I was around 11/12 for Christmas.  She also included a book about how to wear makeup and instructed me on when to wear it.  It really was to try to get me to be more "girly."  My sister however allows my 8 year old niece to have lip gloss.  She told me that as my niece gets older she will give her new things like actual lipstick and mascara in stages so that my niece will learn to properly apply and remove the makeup.  By time she's in junior high she will be comfortable with all aspects and will know the appropriate time and place for it.

  9. 13 exact

  10. Uhm around the age of like 12-13 you can start but dont go too over the top.. just start with the basics first

  11. I think whenever your ready and you'll feel comfortable wearing it. I started in grade 7 and its just basic mascara and cover -up. For more makeup like foundation, blush, eyeliner, shadow lip liner etc. I would say 14 and up. but it depends on how mature your grade is and how you feel wearing it and how you wear it.

  12. about 12

  13. I say it depends on how much the child wants to wear and what.  But around 12-14 years old.

  14. I was allowed to have lip gloss and concealer and such when I was 13-14. That is around the time that kids start having acne, and being able to wear cover-up really can help with self-esteem. My dad WOULD buy me any skin-care products I wanted to help with that, too.

I wasn't allowed to wear eye liner, and colored makeup until I was 16.

  15. Well, Im pre-teen and when I started year seven, (im british) my mum bought me lipstick, gloss and mascara... I never properly slap concealer and foundation all over my face, but around the age of 12 is OK for girls to start wearing a LITTLE bit of make-up...note the word little...

  16. 16 to 18

  17. My friend started at 12...so around 7th grade I'd say.

  18. DEFINATELY not at 10. Wow. I would wait till they are at least officially a teenager. Between 13 & 15.

  19. I would say around the age of 14. But you really have to be careful because less is more, no matter what age you are. I just started wearing makeup when I was 14 and my mom took me to a makeup store where they teach you how to properly put on makeup and what looks good on you. That way, when you go and buy more, you know what you need. I went to my local store, Ulta. They have many brands of makeup and at great prices. They showed me how to properly apply it. Hope this helps!

  20. Let's see...I was 13 when I started to wear mascara on my top lashes and lip gloss. At 14, my mother let me wear what I wanted, so I went all-out: concealer, foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, etc.

I was cured of that quickly by the problematic acne that followed wearing gunk all over my face, as well as the feeling that I looked completely fake...

As a senior, I go for the natural look with tinted moisturizer, a bit of eyeshadow, curled lashes and mascara.

I guess my point is that the key is moderation, no matter the age.

  21. That is up to the discretion of the parent of course. But when I was in school, most girls started wearing it in Jr. High - like 7th or 8th grade. That seems like a good time to start. Any younger than that and it just seems wierd.

Girls have their whole life to wear makeup. Not to mention the fact that wearing it can cause break-outs at an age when that is really not wanted.

  22. That is a hard question to give one answer.

I started wearing make-up a few years before my mom even knew.  I would take it to school and put it on there.  By the time I went home it would be washed off.  The only problem was I had NO idea how to wear it so I am sure I looked horrible.

I think every mom, or dad, should take time when their girl is around 10 (yes that is young, but girls are wearing makeup at even a younger age than that), and set some rules about make up. You can wear it when going to a dance or a special occasion, but not everyday--type of rules.

Then at the age you decided you should take her to the mall and set up an appointment with a make up counter that deals more with younger girls, like Clinque (sp?).  Have them show her how to wear make up and how much.  (Make sure to buy something from the girl for her time, like a lip gloss, don't just go and leave--that is rude.)

Then go to a cheaper store and buy similar products.  Also teach her the correct way to remove make-up and how to clean her face correctly.

I think daily wear should also depend on her face.  I had acne at starting at age 13---I wanted to wear foundation to help hide it, but i had friends who had perfect faces and didn't need anything other than lip gloss, eye shadow and mascara.

  23. I see 12 year olds with cakes and cakes of makeup on, and they end up looking like 17 year old hookers.

If you ARE going to let your child wear makeup at that age, make sure its neutral colors (light browns and brown mascara) and buy her something like a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation.

The neutral colors will help her still look young, but let her feel more adult for being able to wear makeup.

  24. Light makeup around age 13 -- age 16 for the rest of the stuff.

But, if she is asking, she may have already started and you haven't found out yet.

  25. Girls, 12 or 13.  Boys, 15.
