What age is it to be an adult for train in the uk?

just wondering, is it 16 or 17, because i payed for adult a few weeks ago and im only 16, thanks

  1. Hi i think its 16 as you can buy a 16-25 railcard which gets you 1/3rd of prices so due to that age range id assume its 16 :)


  2. unfortunately you become an adult paying fare on trains when you reach 16, free travel for 4 and under, half price 5-15 yrs.

    If you travel a lot on trains why not invest in a 16-25 railcard (formerly known as Young Persons Railcard) which entitles you to 34% or 1/3 (still the same discount) on all travel in standard and some tickets in 1st class advanced travel, and costs £24 per year
