What age is the right time?

so me and my g*y male friend was talking earlier and he was telling me that he came out when he was 20 years old (he's now 24) because he was afraid that his parents would disown him. So this brings me to this question.... what age do you think is the right time to come out to your family & friends?

There really isnt a perfectly set age to come out...im not even out of the closet myself.. But i would have to say when you feel most comfortable with yourself, youll know when the time is right

If one happens to live in a more conservative, religious household, it would be better to tell your family when you're off in college.

If your parents are more accepting, or more liberal (not necessarily in a political context), you can even do it in highschool.

If you're me, I'm not going to tell them until they accidentally walk in on me and another guy in a makeout session.

Every situation is different, but I generally tell people that unless they know 100% for sure that their parents are going to accept them then they need to wait until they are not only 18 but also until they no longer need their parents help with paying for their college education. Of course sometimes things don't work out that way i.e. getting caught or outed, then you just have to be honest and deal with whatever happens, communication and patience generally help in this situation. it depends for different people i would say 18 i can out at 13 and my whole family had no problem with me being g*y they knew i was g*y already. same thing for my boyfriend he came out at13 and he is whole family had no problem that he is g*y it depends on the person and the family
