  1. Littleangelfire's answer is correct.

I am in Arizona too, and am working with a small group of moms to increase the mandatory age/weight limit to be more in-line with other states.   Sadly, in Arizona, we are truly behind the times and bare minimum requirement are simply NOT good enough when you are talking about the safety of your child.

Please make sure that your child is safely harnessed or boostered beyond the minimum limits.

  2. varies by state... here it is 5yrs or 60 lbs

  3. Try this site, it is for all states............

  4. In Arizona its 5 years old, however, the laws of physics outweight the laws of the state. 5 years old is NOT old enough to be riding in just the seatbelt. There are 4 stages of car seats, here's how it works:

stage 1: rear facing - newborn to 2 years/30lbs. Keep kids rear facing as long as possible! Its the safest position

stage2: forward facing 5 point harness - 2 years to 4-5 years and 40lbs. Keep kids in a harness as long as possible! Its much safer than a booster.

stage 3: booster - 40lbs and 4 years is the bare minimum for safe booster use and experts recommend waitint till at least 5 to introduce the booster seat.

stage 4: seatbelt only. a child can not safely use just a seatbelt until he is at least 4'9" tall, 80lbs and passes the 5 step no booster test. Most kids need a booster until 8-10 years old.

    NO BOOSTERR 5 step test:

    1. Does the child sit all the way back against the auto seat?

    2. Do the child's knees bend comfortably at the edge of the auto seat?

    3. Does the belt cross the shoulder between the neck and arm?

    4. Is the lap belt as low as possible, touching the thighs?

    5. Can the child stay seated like this for the whole trip?

  5. I DON'T THINK AGE, OR WEIGHT, HAS TOO MUCH TO DO WITH THIS ISSUE. THE BIG ISSUE, IS HOW TALL IS THE CHILD. IN, NEW YORK, IT IS 48INCHES. CHECK WITH YOUR STATE POLICE, THE PHONE CALL IS FREE, AND SO IS THE ADVICE!!!GOOD LUCK, TWEETY
