What age should a kid get a cell phone?

Question

My daughter is turning 14 in August and is going to be a Freshman do u think she should have a cell phone? She wants one. A lot of kids in her class have them but then she wants unlimited texting too. So what should i do please help me?

Hello! I'm a teen, and I strongly believe that your daughter should have a cellphone. At fourteen, kids begin to go out more often, go to parties, and are trusted with more responsibility. Look at a cellphone as something your teen needs for contacting you during emergencies and for her safety. Don't look at a cellphone as something that will distract her from her studies. I don't recommend giving your daughter unlimited texting, because that is a distraction. I received my first cellphone in sixth grade, which in my opinion, is the perfect time for kids to get one. well I am 11 and I am going to be 12 in oct
and rigt now it is june almost july
so my mom says for cristmas but I think she is going to suprize me and give it to me for my b-day

so around like 10-11

but...
my cusin is 8 and she got a cell phone
and it is a really nice one not just a little flipy phone
but...
her perents are broken up so she needs to get aholde of them
but she is 8 so it's not like she won't be with anyone with a cell phone all the time

but anyway I think around 10 or 11
if they are responsebl(sorry if I spelled that wrong)

i'm 10 and im getting one next year for middle school (i'm going to be 11) i think she is really ready because im getting a phone younger than her im sure she is more responsible.

any age but they need to be trusted and be responselble so give your kid
a cell phone if you know they can be trusted.....

Because she is going into high school, I think she should have a cell phone because that way you can keep in touch with her at all times. You don't need a cell phone until high school, because you will be hanging out with your friends more often.

I think he/her should have a cell phone when she is half way through middle school.  If you don't agree ask your self these questions:

1. Do yo think she's responsable enough?
2. Do you think she's old enough?

Now ask her/him these questions:

1. Who are you going to call/text?
2. Do you have any enemy's that would hurt you when they might call/text you?

I  think if she or he is responsible enough than I think she should have one. If you dont get her or him a phone before there sixteen than if they got in a bad situation than they wouldnt be able to call you or 911 to get help
