What age should i put sand in with my bearded dragon

hes about 4 and a half months i put sand in like 2 weeks ago its calcium inriched he doesnt look like hes eating any of the sand when he eats the crickets

  1. Just be aware that the calci sand can discolor your little guy. Keep an eye on him when eating, but he should be fine.


  2. Scan the current "best for" listings, and see they recommend your dragon be at least 18 mo. before you put it on sand.

    From there, I can only say sand at any age is bad.

    From there - ASK YOUR VET.

    (How do you clean sand?  Scooping doesn't remove bacteria.  Do you dump the tank every 2 days, and start over?)


  3. Calcium or reptile sand is NEVER okay the ONLY acceptable sand is WASHED play sand. And he should be 13+ inches before going on play sand.
