  1. I was 12 and had a longboard in san diego.  I went to a safe beach break and had one of the best summers of my life. The first thing is you should be a strong swimmer... and wear a leash so if youy loose your board you dont have to swim to shore to get it

  2. Dude it is not an age thing....it is desire, being one with nature, letting liquid flow beneath you, finding a grove, facing challenges maybe death at times, finding serenity amongst the calmness in between the rage...

don't put an age limit on learning...

I have been there and there is nothing like it....

  3. If you want to start? Well personally, I would start at at least ten years old, if not earlier.

  4. i've seen as young as eight year olds beginning surfers

  5. thats funny you can be whatever age you want to be well whenever you can start walking kinda

  6. I started at 7, and I'm 25 now and loving it more than ever. Its good to get the learning out the way, so that when the grom hits his teens he can start getting into more consequential waters and be confident in the abilities that should, by then, be second nature. when 18-20 rolls around, those 8 foot barrels in Indo will be a dream come true instead of a terrifying nightmare.

  7. I'd say about 5 if they enjoy the surf I started at 10 but eny age will do.

  8. As soon as your confident in water and can swim well

  9. my neices little boy started at 5.they live in new zealand

  10. id say confidence and good swimming ability and your away . start with body board and progress well worth it but teach littles ones how to be safe and defo get wet suit for little ones

  11. I started at 14 and I'm 32 now and still learning. As soon as you are a confident swimmer you should be ok. As for a maximum age last summer I met a 63 year old who was taking his first lesson. Fair play to the old timer at least he was getting in the water.

  12. As soon as you can use a computer and have been taught the basics of the internet.

  13. I dont think age is an issue. Its all about interest and physical ability

  14. I think you could be any age as long as you are a strong swimmer or have parental guidance

  15. like any age but the younger you are probably the better.. ive learned how to surf ever since i was 8 and i am pretty good now..
