Question:

What age should you purchase tall boots?

I have heard that you should wait until you are fully grown to buy tall boots, but that you are supposed to have tall boots if you are showing a horse. Fortunately, I have a pony (just barely- she is 14.25 (14.2 and a half)), so I don't have to worry about it. But what have you heard about this?

  1. After 16

  2. When you are old enough to get a job and buy them

  3. Typically the age to buy tall boots is 12-14 when you just look too big for garters. This is the age when you begin wearing your hair up in a hairnet instead of braids too. Even on a pony, it's best to buy tall boots around this age. Make sure you wear them often because you still grow a lot at this time, and since these boots are so expensive you don't want to risk growing out of them too quickly.
