  1. i know people who started preparing in 7th grade.

  2. Well sophmore isn't that bad. It is more reasonable to start preparing in your Junior year. Most likely you are going to take your SATs then. If you start preparing from 10th grade, you have to be very consistent in your studying. You don't have to do some hardcore studying right now. Start learning vocab words or just do a couple of practice problems. If you go onto collegeboard.com they will send you a practice SAT problem to your email address everyday.

  3. You should start preparing lightly freshman year, like reviewing the basics of the SAT, like the what kind of material you are going to find on the test. i'm pretty sture that the math section goes up to geometry and touches a bit of algebra 2, and the reading& writing should just be just learning all your vocab, but me and alot of other people from my school took the test in 7th grade, it was some duke tip program for smart people :) but anyways yes, I do think you should start preparing  it as a sophomore because it will give you a headstart and if you take a practice test a few times in the year, it will really help you to get a high score when you take it junior or senior year.Good Luck :)

  4. Buy an SAT book and follow their study guidelines if you're worried.  The age to start preparing is different for everybody.  I would suggest you start now because most people take the SAT once spring of junior year and retake it if necessary the fall of senior year.  I know people who started preparing in junior high.  I started studying the week before the test and scored 2090, which is good enough for an Ivy League school, but now I regret it because I'll never know how well i would have done if I had prepared like i should have.

In my opinion the thing that helped me most was that I'm extremely familiar with standardized tests.  So my advice to you is to take a lot of practice tests and sign up for the College Board SAT Question of the Day to be emailed to you.  These are available on the College Board website.

  5. Probably as a freshmen, but now would be good. Lots of people icluding me at my school first took the SAT in 8th grade. It just prepares you. They take the highest score, so the sooner you start preparing the better.
