I think it was 18 but I'm not sure if it was actually younger then that.

  1.   About 10 million men were drafted, 1942-45, and about 6 million more volunteered for service. The ages of eligibility were 18-35, later increased to 18-45. Because drafts were done within age brackets, actual ages of inductees were older than 18, until the last year of combat when the US Army was seriously short of infantrymen.

With parental permission, enlistment age was lowered to age 17. The youngest casualty in WW 11 was a 13 year old Marine, who had lied about is age, of course. (that was not uncommon).

  2. It's alway been 18 in the modern age. This was when you left school.

  3. Your right, it was 18.

  4. I didn't think the US drafted anyone because they wern't too much involved in the war.

  5. It was 18 years old..  At the time the voting age was 21 and lots of people complained that you could be 18 and drafted, but you couldn't vote, so they lowered the voting age.
