  2. well you can very well start training a horse at age of 3 ... but it's usually alot better if you start when they're really younge. like when they're just able to walk, let them just watch what you do to their sires and dams and other horses that he/she may be around. and when he/she starts to get a little more active start walking him around some (but dont push them any).  it's really important to win a horses confidence. and soon you should be able to start putting a halter on and the foal should watch what his dam does when you halter, saddle, and ride her. that can help out alot sometimes. but you should just keep going on these steps untill hes old enough to ride and never push him too much ... a little boost is okay but total command could turn out in making your horse very bad tempered. and i would also suggest just putting a saddle on him and just walk him around a little untill he feels comfortable with it and then start riding him. but him watching other horses that are already trained helps alot! especially if he has a pal he runs or races with in the pastures. hope this helps  =)   --livY

  3. Generally you can start working a horse a 2yrs. of age. I see no problem at all working your 3yr old.
