  1. • In my opinion[obviously my opinion, cause I'm writing this! =)]
    The main factor which does not allow for the growth of sports in India is the lack of knowledge about the various disciplines and their methods of coaching and training, in the upper echelons of the government.
    I'm pretty sure that Our own Mani Shankar Aiyar, the 'Honourable' minister for Sports can't tell you the finer rules of football, or hockey, or tennis, or WUSHU(A martial arts technique which the government has recently given priority status to, incidentally booting out hockey from the priority level).
    Untill there is an understanding of the sports we will not progress into any sort of sporting superpower, which is a d**n shame, considering the richness of our people to excel in this domain.
    Infrastructure(Or lack of it, in fact) is another cause for concern, but ultimately stems from the lack of knowledge about the sports.
