  17. First of all, great question!  I'm going to check out several of the albums in the responses...

For me, there are several albums I could say, but the one I *always* listen to from start to finish is:

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

I love the music and the original album (vinyl!) cover was a newspaper with stories and the lyrics, etc.

    Here's some info from Wikipedia:

Thick as a Brick (1972) is a concept album by the British rock band Jethro Tull. Its lyrics are built around a poem written by a fictitious boy, "Gerald Bostock" a.k.a. "Little Milton" (Ian Anderson himself). The album featured only one song, lasting over 43 minutes. To accommodate the album on LP vinyl, the seamless track was split on both sides of the record. It reached number one on the (U.S.) Billboard Pop Albums chart.

The original LP cover was a spoof of a twelve by sixteen inch (305 by 406 mm) multipage local newspaper with stories, competitions, adverts, etc., lampooning the parochial and amateurish local journalism that still exists in many places today, as well as certain classical album covers. The "newspaper" also includes the entire lyrics to the song. The spoof newspaper had to be heavily abridged for conventional CD covers, but the 25th Anniversary Special Edition CD includes a partial facsimile; some content is missing, such as the original connect the dots activity and part of the "front page".

  18. Tool - Aenema; Lateralus

Pink Floyd  -- The Wal + others

The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium

  19. Without any doubt, Metropolis Part II: Scenes From A Memory by Dream Theater.

Concept albums as a whole are great for complete listening, but Scenes... takes it to a WHOLE new level.

Perfect musicianship, perfect production, perfect guitar tone, solid, insane drumming... the vocals are pretty d**n ace...

It's just a PERFECT album. I mean like, actual perfection.

  20. Notorious - Duran Duran. LOL.

Some people may hate DD, but I love that album. You have the funky songs and then the slower and sweet songs. The album is full of great songs. I'd tell anyone to give it a try, I just love the album. I play it a lot. "Proposition" (contrast between the two) and "A Matter Of Feeling," two very different songs. Worth listening too! You appreciate the songs more, by seperating all the bits. I listen to the vocals, then the keyboards, then the bass and guitar and then everything as a whole. Such a beautiful album! :)

  21. Manic Street Preachers  ' The Holy Bible '

    Pink Floyd   ' Meddle '

    Pink Folyd   ' Animals '

  22. Secondhand Serenade - Awake chills me out a lot especially the song "Awake" & "End"

  23. American Idiot - Green Day
