  1. I don't think blue is lonely, although the blues are a kind of lonely form of music.

You rarely see colors isolated from anything, so a lot of the power of color is created by their context- what color is near by.

Painters use colors to evoke feelings in viewers or to express their own.

But again, the colors can not be isolated from their context of the other elements; line ,shape, space, tone and chroma.

In the Hindu belief, chakras are colored wheels of light

emanating from and absorbing into the body.

    these chakras'colors are

    red  for the base

    orange for the navel

yellow for the solar plexus, stomach area

green or pink for the heart area

blue for the voice, the throat

indigo, ultra violet for the third eye

    violet for the crown

and white for the ultimate transpersonal point above the head.

Every culture has a meaning for colors that respects their traditions and beliefs.

Chinese colors which represent the meridians of acupuncture, the lines of energy in the body, have really different meanings that what Americans perceive.

For instance, white in Chinese meridians talk represents grief, while the West uses black for grief.

another is green- Chinese use green as a representation of jealousy and anger, while mostly in the west we consider red for rage.

So, depending on what you want to use the meanings for- personal use or art criticism, maybe for understanding personal health

    using chakras....

    Colors can have many meanings.

    Growing up,

I learned about blue being calming

I learned that green was relaxing

I learned that yellow was cheerful

I learned that orange was fruity

I learned that red was a fighting color

I learned that purple was royal, whatever that means

now I see color for what it is- contextually, reflecting qualities in that unique and particular moment.
