  1. Go and talk to a Army recruiter. They will have answers or they will find the answers. I am a retired Army Warrant Officer. I recommend that some college before entering the service would better your selection as an army aviator. Best of luck to you, and thanks for wanting to serve our country.

  2. These are the steps you and your recruiter need to do.

    Step 1  Take the physical

Step 2  Take the AFAST - Google it to find study materials

Step 3  Take the Flight Physical

Step 4  Prepare your packet - letters of recommendation, etc.

Step 5  Go to the board - this means you go sit in front of some Officers and they ask you questions about why you want to be a Pilot

    Step 6  Join

Do not be surprised or disappointed if the board does not select you.  There are limited spots for non-prior service personnel to become pilots, and you will be competing against College grads and civilian pilots.

I typically recommend that people, especially high school seniors, enlist into an Aviation MOS, and apply from in-service.  You are now competing against your peers, and you have had much more exposure to aviation and aircraft.  Plus you can get all of those bonuses and educational incentives.

By the way - everyone I know who has applied for WOFT from in the Army has been accepted, and none of the people I've seen apply as civilians have been.

A nice compromise, which will make your recruiter happy as well, is to go ahead and join the Army's Delayed Entry Program for an Aviation job; and continue to work on your WOFT application.

That way, your recruiter gets contract credit for you now, and you have the aviation job locked in in case you are not selected.

If you do this, make sure that you are pro-active about getting your WOFT process moving, as the recruiter can get lazy after you enlist.

    edit:

The 88 you got on your ASVAB is your AFQT score, it just says whether you are qualifed to join or not.  What you need to know is your GT (General Technical) score.  It needs to be a 110 or higher.  With an 88 AFQT, it probably is, but you need to ask your recruiter.

  3. SFC M is extremely accurate.  My husband was prior service NG and was told that even with his military experience it would be easier to make Warrant from within the active duty Army.  The selection process is extremely challenging and competitive and only being a HS grade will not help your packet.

  4. Get your head examined!!! You'd have to be crazy to want to join the military. Whatever you do, read that fine print in the sign-up contract. It says quite clearly that the military does NOT have to keep any of its promises to you, ever. The military can (and will) change anything in that contract at any time without your consent. Know your rights before you get involed with the military. They lie... big time. Call 800-394-9544 The GI Rights Hotline for the truth. And watch out for that delayed enlistment program!

  5. Score higher on the ASVAB... to be a warrant officer i believe u have to be in the 90's, so ur close
