Question:

What all do I need to wear for a reining class, western pleasure class, and hunt seat class?

I'd love a list of all three! You don't need to give me a price, but an estimate would be lovely. I plan on starting to show soon, and I've ridden 7 years western and a year english but have never shown! Finally I really want to, I feel I'm good enough to compete at a higher-level and would like to know everything I need.

Thanks =]

  1. Reining: You: Long sleeved western shirt, usually cowbay hat or helmet if you have to wear one, jeans with or without chaps

    Reining: Your Horse: splint boots or sport boots and skid boots are recommended. On your bridle, nosebands or cavesons are not allowed. Most competitions require a curb bit.

    Western pleasure: You: Long sleeved shirt or western fancy show shirt, show pants to go with your shirt, NO JEANS, and a cowboy hat or helmet, which ever is required. Chaps, gloves and spurs are optional. Also, cowboy boots.

    Western pleasure: Your horse: saddle (western), no noseband on the bridle(open faced)

    Hunt seat: You: neutral breeches, light colored shirt with a stand up collar, dark hunter coat, stock tie,  stock tie pin is optional, approved headgear or helmet

    Hunt seat: Your horse: Jumping style saddle because this is a foward seat class, white saddle pad that is cut to have the same shape as the saddle, simple bridle with a plain caveson, egg-butt or snaffle bit,  no martingales if it's a flat class and thats pretty much it.

    Remember for english the tack is plain and your attire is neat a clean and fits well.

    And for western jazz it up a bit with sequins and embelishments on you and your tack. All tack it to be clean and fit properly!!

    And remember to have fun and smile even if it's not your number that is called. Everyone has to start out somewhere!!!

    Have fun and good luck
