  1. My small home town they learned how to fly , radio to air support , directed search party's for down civilian planes and lost persons in the forest and fields.

learned emergency field rescue and emergency disaster aid and management, Learned first aid,

Managed radio field communication during forest fires.

Learned mobile power generation and transmission.

Had a float in the local parades.

Learned how  to parachute and sky dive.

I would have joined myself, I had to work afterschool, I could't.

    Good Luck, enjoy.

  2. They handle domestic issues that the military does not.  Such as looking for downed civilian aircraft.  They were the ones on scene searching for Steve Fosset when he went down.  Depending on where you live they also will rescue people from mountains who were climbing and in trouble.  Things of that nature.

  3. OK, Answers is acting funny, so I'm going to submit this in three pieces.  The Civil Air Patrol is the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force.  It is a private, non-profit, benevolent, 501c(3) corporation chartered by Congress.  Its three missions, as defined by Congress are:  Aerospace Education, Emergency Services and Cadet Programs.  For Aerospace Education, we promote the teaching of the Aerospace Sciences, both inside and outside CAP, stressing the importance of the United States remaining the premier Aerospace power in the world for National Security.
