What all should i get rid of out of the fridge?

The compressor went out in my fridge about 5 days ago. I know some stuff I am obviously going to have to get rid of but do I have to replace pickles, mustard, salad dressings, salsa, ketchup, marinades, butter?

Also, since my landlord took the compressor out of the unit the freezer started to defrost...I know I will have to get rid of meats that thaw but what about ready made dinners like the ones in the bag...frozen veggies, ect?

Should I ask my landlord to allow me to not pay a certain amount in the rent to replace all my food from the refridge they supply???

Thanks everyone!

  1. pickles, mustard, salad dressings, salsa, ketchup, marinades - Any of these things that say "refrigerate after opening" should be replaced. Butter definitely replace. ALL frozen foods need to be replaced because they started to defrost. As far as the landlord making restitution, that's between the two of you, just don't take any chances on consuming anything that may have spoiled or you may not be around to exact restitution.

  2. If its been 5 days, you need to throw it all out, sorry!

  3. i would throw it all out. it couldn't hurt to ask for a reduction in the rent, don't know if the landlord will though
