im looking at buying a 97 dodge neon that has the dohc motor but it blew the engine drivin down the road the temp gauge shot up it started blowing white smoke from under the hood and died, now when you try to start it it wont it makes a kinda grinding/clicking sound. I can get a sohc motor from a 98 dodge neon to put in it but was wondering what all id have to change. wiring harness? intake manifold? exhaust manifold? computer? accessories mounting brackets and belt? Will the engine bolt up to the automatic transmission and engine mounts in the 97 or what all will i have to change to do the swap and get it running? any help will be appreciated

  1. Everything is identical except the computer.

They swap out with no problem.

I would see what happens with the original computer before buying another, it may work despite the part numbers being different.
