What allergens are used in a Pulmonary Function Test?

Does anyone know what specific allergens are part of the inhalation challenge portion of a Pulmonary Function Test?

Assuming that one is allergic to cats, but doesn't experience any adverse affects to them unless around them for at least eight hours - sometimes more - would one be able to pass said test?

  1. Linda is correct - the PFT just measures lung capacity.  The part about challenging with inhaled allergens was abandoned after some people had severe asthma attacks and died I think as part of a clinical trial for a bronciodialator...

  2. I think you're confusing two different tests. PFT measures lung function and capacity and doesn't involve any allergens. Determining what you're allergic to would take an allergy test, which is a skin or blood test.
