Question:

What am I doing wrong with my Jade?

I have a 2-3 inch propagated jade plant. After cutting, I let it callous for about 4 days, and then put it in soil/gravel mix. The soil started damp and I did not water it for the first week and a half. Since then I have watered it twice after the soil has gone dry an inch down the first time was after one week, and the second after 5 days.

Over these last 2 weeks, the lowest 3 leaves have shriveled, yellowed, and dropped off to the touch. I am not sure if my plant has rooted, but the top of the plant is still healthy looking, developing new leaves at its apical meristem, and growing toward its light source. It is also receiving significantly less light in my eastern facing badly lit dorm room, than its source plant was in my grandma's well lit southern facing kitchen window.

What is making my plant suffer from leafdrop? What can I do to make it stop?

  1. i have jade plants at home

Make sure you cut off the shriveled yellow leaves.

The jade needs a large source of air. so put it near a window or something.
