Question:

What am I supposed to do about skyrocketing gas prices?

I switched my wifes car to an economy car last year. I drive a truck because it is for work(construction) and I have no choice. Last year I also switched to driving the truck for work only. When I get home, I only drive the car or I walk. I've cancelled my cable television and my home phone is basic for $5.00 a month. I switched the shower heads to ultra low flow ones to save water and switched my lightbulbs to flourescent. We don't eat out of go anywhere because we don't have money.

Now gas has gone up so much that it costs me over a hundered dollars more a month then just 1-2 months ago. Food prices are skyrocketting as well. It's impossible to spend less then a hundred dollars at the store to feed a family of four for a week.

As time goes on, it gets harder and harder to get ahead. The only thing politicans in CA want to do is raise taxes and all they say on the radio is to conserve. What else am I supposed to conserve? What in the world am I supposed to do?

  1. Sounds like you're doing just about everything possible. Just know you're not alone. So many of us are in the same boat. Try to be positive. You have helped others by posting this question.  Many of us have not cut back like you have, and maybe it's time we did.  Hold on, and don't give up. Thanks for the ideas. I know you were expecting answers, but you've provided answers for others.

  2. this is more advice then a "answer" but can you take some sort of other transportation other then your own vehicle, like is there a bus that goes around town, if where your going isnt to far maybe you can walk....

  3. I agree with you.  I count my blessings because my work pays for my apartment and I don't own a car.  However, I'm still having problems paying everything and don't go out anymore either.

We really need to stop pointing fingers for blame on the opposite party and start working toward the needs of the American people.

  4. Choose your elected representatives more carefully in the future. Think rather than feel when you vote.

  5. The Democrats have blocked the oil companies from

drilling in areas where they know there is oil and then they

try to pass the blame off on to Bush. He has tried for years

telling them we were years away from alternate fuels.

If I was you I would consider voting in the party that is in

favor of letting the companies who know where to drill for oil

and not wait until China has already drilled there.

  6. Ask for a recall on them all. They all suck and lie.
