I am 13 and I want to make the school's golf team. I have only been actually playing for about 8 months, and I REALLY want to make the team. What can I expect to be doing when I make the team and how should I prepare?

  1. Take it slow. Practise with a purpose, just don't go hit balls. Use your mind to think out your practise shots. At 13 and just starting out. Play with the thought of getting the best of what is presented to you. Otherwords, think if you are on a par 5. 500 yards. Your drive goes 220 yards. You have 280 left. Don't try to get a 3 wood 200. You will score better if you go with a 6 iron and get 160 and have only 120 yard wedge or 9 iron into the green. Just take a little at a time and you will shoot better scores that trying to kill the ball all the time. But keep at it, golf will be with you all your life.

  2. i'm a junior and my first year to prepare for the team i hit a golf ball every chance i got.  Go play, go to the range, but most importantly go put and chip.  The best way to improve ur game is to improve ur putting and chiping.  There r a few new guys on our team this year that r okay at hitting the ball but can't put or chip to save their lives.

It will majorly improve ur game if u go put and chip a few times a week for a good hour or two.

  3. im sure if you keep practicing youll do fine but try your hardest and if you dont make the team remember you tried your hardest and maybe youll make it next time  or try out for another sport that you are also good at and that youve been playing even longer but any ways GOOD LUCK hove you make the team

  4. Gene said it pretty nicely. It's better to play smart than to kill the ball all the time. Know your capabilities, know how far you can hit each club, that way you know what you can or can't do in a certain situation. Say you can hit a 6-iron 150 yards, then if you're 145 yards away, you could hit a 6-iron nearly full strength and be just fine.
