What am i allowed 2 do while protecting my property??

say im sleeping in my room and my car is parked outside my window. my alarm goes off and i wake up. i grab a baseball bat or pipe and run outside. am i allowed to use it since some 1 is trying 2 break into my car??? am i allowed 2 beat them up with no weapon? am i allowed to shoot them in the leg?? what can and cant i do?

  1. you have the right to protect yourself and your home if you are in immediate danger). Because you went out to inspect (putting yourself in immediate danger) than you can only call the police and wait. If someone is in your home, you can go on a shooting spree. You have to fear for your life and more than likely the intrudor has to have a weapon (although woman can get away with having a gun more easily than a man can).

Okay, the correct answer to your question is it depends on where you are.  In Texas, you can use force to defend your property, not just your person, especially at night.  I would suggest you ask your local police department or you tell us where you are so a criminal lawyer from that area can respond.

    Any other decision would get YOU in trouble too. If its self defense thats a different story.

  4. It is illegal to harm anyone who is not directly threatening to phycially harm you.   Taking or attempting to take your property is not a direct threat to you unless they attempt to attack you or otherwise make you feel threatened for your life.
