What am i doing wrong with my braces?

I have braces and i brush and rinse every day but i have a problem. My orthodontist warned me that if i didnt brush that i could get spots that cannot be romoved. Well, i see two small spots on my teeth that i cannot get away, but i do everything right! Whats wrong? Should i be alarmed?

i had the same problem. mine told me the same thing and my teeth are perfect. use mouth wash and floss just in case and of course brush.

I had braces before, I didn't spend much effort in cleaning them other than the usual brushing, but my teeth weren't stained. If you're worried you can floss, or perhaps book appointments with your dentist every few months to get your teeth cleaned. That's the best method I can think of.

ah, i went through the same thing. Actually it is very hard to keep your teeth clean when you have braces vs. not wearing braces. I thought that i was cleaning my teeth really well for the last couple months. I brushed everyday, flossed, and mouthwashed. But yesterday i had to go to get a normal "cleaning" but it ended up that i had a GUM INFECTION and the lady freakin had to dig in with that pointy thing and take the nasty things out. worst pain of my life. and then they did the actual cleaning (luckily, i have no cavaties!!) anyways, they told me to floss everyday and use one of those ELECTRIC toothbrushes. (i dont know what their called but you know what i mean) They told me that if you use a normal toothbrush it doesnt get everything out. My dentist is really funny and he told me this analogy: your brackets are like magnets that attract all the dirt and nasty things to your teeth. Your teeth is like a carpet. if you just use a normal broom (normal toothbrush) and sweep, it will clean some but the dust will just settle back later, if you use a vacuum (electric toothbrush), then you'll get all the dust out.

Be sure to floss properly and brush using one of those electric ones! be sure to keep your gums healthy as well, not just ur teeth!! i sure learned my lesson yesterday!!

oh and for those spot things, im worried that when i get my braces removed ill have those too, but my dentist said that he can bleach my teeth so it will be gone!

Talk to your dentist and orthodontist about it!!!

When my orthodontist told me about the possibility of getting spots I was alarmed as well.  Don't panic just keep your mouth clean and floss every day (at least once a day).  They sell threaders for floss or special orthodontic floss at Walmart.  

Also make sure you get your yearly cleanings at your dentist's office.

I had my braces removed 5 months ago and my teeth are fine and I didn't exaggerate on the cleaning.
