  1. You can do whatever you like. I know plenty of people who brought rings or some kind of watch as a symbol for their intended to wear. Traditionally you don't have to, but one of the cool things about starting a new life together is that you can make your own traditions.

  2. go to theknot.com

It has a check list from start to finish for what you could do.

  3. OK...first off its up to you but usually, the man doesn't wear an engagement ring. So now you need to think about when you would like to get married. The wedding itself could be 6months away or 5years away...again, its up to you. Once you have worked that much out, then you need to think about finances. How much can you afford or want to spend on your wedding. Set a budget and make it priority that you stick to it. Then find a venue you are happy with and set the date wth them. Make sure you pay a deposit so that you know that your day is locked in. This should start you off and the rest will fall into place after that. Those things are key to do first though. Good luck and congrats.

  4. You don't have to buy a ring until closer to the wedding date. So for now, just start planning and preparing. Don't only prepare for the wedding, but also gain some kind of plan about after the wedding (where you're going to live, etc). To start planning,

    -pick a date

    -start making an invitation/guest list

    -decide on theme/colors

-look for a wedding dress with your bridesmaids and figure out their gowns too

-pick a place for the wedding and reception (it's good to reserve in advance, you may get a deal/discount, and they won't be booked already!)

-find a place to order your flowers for you and your bridesmaids and floral arrangements for the wedding and reception

these are just some general things to make sure get done. You can watch "who's wedding is it anyways" on TLC (the t.v. channel) and get great money saving tips and a to do list of things to include.

    CONGRATULATIONS! Good Luck!

  5. don't buy him anything lol, when you get engaged its you that wears that ring. just treat him good. make him dinner

  6. Congratulations!

You're 18 and the love of your life just proposed a few weeks ago.  You enjoy wearing the engagement ring.  Show it to everyone....from "Apples of your eye" to the Zoo Keeper".

NO! you do not buy him anything at all.  The tradition is for the male to claim his maiden with ring upon proposal.  It signifies to all other males you are taken.

Hopefully you will be buying him a wedding band for your wedding day.

"Top Contributor" gave correct and etiquette advice, however I felt you were asking one question.  My answer is "NO! do not buy him a ring".. You only enjoy being engaged:)

    My Blessings Sweetie<><:)

  7. A: your too young

B: save his life and take it back

If you really care you won't open the gates of h**l to an 18 year old.

  9. What you do next is sit down with him and set a date. People don't take engagements very serious if a wedding date isn't set.

  10. The first thing you two need to do is go see a pastor/minister of wherever you are going to married, so a date for the wedding can be set. Then once you have a date, you move on to you two making a budget of how much you can afford to spend on the wedding. Then you book the venue, caterer, band, etc. - and the fun starts!

    Good luck!

  11. first of all sit down and pick a date then look for a wedding consultant to help you plan you wedding.

here's a site for you to look at: www.weddingwire.com

  12. don't buy a ring until like a month before the wedding. get it insured. go try some dresses on and see what looks good on you. not what you think will look good on you. you will shock yourself.pick a date. and since your 18 you are pretty young to get engaged. maybe get married after college. if by then you haven't killed him then you guys will be fine.
