  1. Blimey

  2. call them up and ask if you can bring a different form of ID??

  3. Yeah my shellfish expired as well...?

  4. Would you prefer to be done for fare evasion if you were caught on the bus without a ticket?  Have you looked at how the fines are at the moment?

Speak to your newsagent & see if it would work out cheaper to buy a weekly bus pass

Edit: No, I'm not mad at you & I'm not a bus driver, I'm making a point & I withdraw the stripper remark, it was inappropriate.  I didn't say bus drivers would think you're a stripper but anyone can put on a uniform & say they're under 16.

The point is, the bus drivers can't let you on for free, you are not entitled to free travel unless you can produce the right card to say you are, the current regulations state you must show an appropriate pass or in the case of school children the appropriate photo ID.  If you are caught on public transport & you haven't paid the fare or can't present the appropriate ID you are liable to be done for fare evasion same as everyone else.

Proof that you've applied for the oyster card is not proof that you're going to get it or that it's coming, if you have no oyster card, there is nothing to register a charge to.  The unique code is probably to help track it, which means if you ring up whoever you've sent it to they can tell if they've received it & how it's progressing through the system.

If anyone sounds peeved here it's you, did you really expect sympathy?  There's a wide mix of people here, not all of them kids.  As I've said previously, have a word with your local newsagent, you may find buying a weekly or monthly bus pass may work out cheaper then paying fares everytime you get on the bus or getting a daily travelcard

  5. Oyster? Eh? Tell the bus driver that it's the law and he shouldn't be with-holding precious shell-fish from school kids.

Evil b*****d. What next? Coppers confiscating crabs?

  6. Theres no option apart from paying. You need an oyster, nothing else. So its cheaper to buy a weekly bus pass, its £13.

  7. I have relatively the same problem, in fairness. Not so much that my card expired, but that it just suddenly decided to stop working one day - the third Oyster of mine to do that, I hasten to add - and I agree, it is rather annoying when you get on the bus in uniform or something and the driver says no.

Best thing to do is go to your local corner shop or a newsagents where they sell Oyster cards, take your expired card along and explain the situation to them. Then ask for a Child's One Day Travelcard - it costs £2, but better that for a day's worth of journeys than a £2 single on one bus ride!

  8. Ooo shell fish jokes i wouldnt have seen that coming, best people to ask are TFL call their travel information line on 0207 222 1234 see if they can give you a better answer than this lot.

  9. The bus driver is correct and obeying the rules - you caused the problem by not applying for your Oyster card early enough - you'll have to live with the problem now - just apply earlier next time.
