I am getting a Pyle 1000 watt dual 10'' bandpass system with neon woofer silhouette. It doesn't say anything else about it. Im ordering it online so i want to know what amp to order. Also is this a worthy system?

Also if i don't get that, im looking at a kenwood-12'' 4ohm single-voice-coil. 1200 watts and 400watt rms. What amp would i need?

  1. The Kenwood is the way to go.  Go with the two Kenwood subs, throw them in a nice ported box, and pick up the Kenwood 9104D. It will run 800rms at 2Ohms, so it will be perfect for what you are wanting to do.

These will be much cleaner than the Pyle system, for several reasons, the two main being that bandpass boxes produce an booming sound, where the Kenwoods will have tight, clean reproduction, and the Kenwoods are a very respectible sub.  Those neon lights might look cool to a few people, but for anyone that knows car audio, it is the first sign of a cheap, Korean import "system in a box" setup.

** If you are looking for a starter system, keep to the large production brands, (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate).  These companies will generally have amplifiers designed to run 2 of their main stream 12's.

    For:

Alpine) 2 Type E 12's and an MRP-M500 amp are perfect

    Kenwood) 2 W3011 12's and the 9104D amp

Kicker) 2 12" Kicker Comps and the ZX400.1

    Rockford Fosgate) 2 P1S412's and the 300.1

Any of these systems are pretty good starter systems, because they are durable, easy to configure, and most of these subs can be thrown into almost any size box and sound fairly decent.

Quick Note - Brands to Avoid!!!!

-Audiobank, Pyle, Legacy, Kole Audio, Kenford, Solid Audio, Sound Storm, XFile, Majestic, Phase Linear, SPL, Pyramid, Rockwood, American Pro, Performance Teknique, Street Edge, Audiobank, Dual, Lanzar, and Profile

  2. please do your self a favor do not buy anything with the name pyle on it. kenwood is a much better brand. you will get way more bass out of it and it will sound alot better trust me and the guy on top of me.

ive been there and bought pyle...biggest mistake in my car audio life.
