  1. I voted for the G-DEC earlier, but I hadn't seen the message about the guitar then.

Squier makes solid guitars--you get near-Fender quality for a knockoff price. The humbucker at the bridge and single-coil at the neck will give you enough tones to play anything from blues and jazz to metal.

I've always been more into solid color guitars--I can wear my black Strat with anything from ripped jeans to a tuxedo--but if you like the look, by all means go ahead.

  2. you should get either a squier small amplifier or a Roland Micro cube

  3. Buy the Ibanez IJX 121 starter package off Guitar Center.  You won't be let down.  It's $300 but add in $100 for another Monster cable, a tuner, strings, a winder/clipper, and a stand, plus the 1 year warranty.

and no the guitar doesn't have a nitrocellulose finish so you don't need to worry about the stand damaging it.
