  1. What you need to do is find out the RMS wattage of the speakers, and the amp. Speaker and Amp companys advertise the max power of their products. The number that really matters is the RMS. RMS is the peak, continous power that the amp and give, and that the speakers can take.

If your amp is 250 RMS and your speakers are 100 RMS, you will eventually damage your speakers. Peak wattage is only a selling point, people see a 1200 watt sub woofer and think its killer, but quality is not to par.

My Alpine Type-R speakers are roughly 100 watts RMS, and IIRC 250 peak.

  2. no thats perfect, the 300 watts rating meanes peak not continous so that will be just fine . make sure u set the amps crossovers to not allow too much base through or you will damage the speakers

  3. Whoever told you that is totally wrong!!!  That's more than enough power for door speakers......plus the wattage you told us is the peak wattage not the RMS wattage which is the one you should be concerned with.  They're probably 90Watts and 140Watts RMS value.  Hope this helps.
