Question:

What an atmosphere, England did amazingly to get to the final, but the Springboks did deserve to win! Yes?

It clearly wasn't a try (unfortunately) - I was there and although there were a few dodgy decisions against both teams, South Africa deserved to win because they defended outstandingly for the last quarter of the game.

England failed to change tactics when they were not working by continuing to kick away possession!

  1. RWC 2K7 CHAMPIONS

    SPRIINGBOKS

    WELL DESERVED

  2. yes on all counts......

  3. No bias here , i'm not English but i have to say that was a try and perhaps not awarding it changed the game. Overall though i thought the best team on the night won.

  4. Well said dear.

  5. Yes. And just to clear tings up bout Cattys try, pls see this http://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image...

  6. yes, i'm glad the boks won in the end. england did great to even make the final.

for me though, most of my memories of the world cup will centre around argentina. they have showed themselves to be a true force in world rugby.

  7. Very well put.

Englands lineouts were shocking and we gave away far to much turnover ball. We defended well but never really attacked them with ball in hand.

  8. As an England fan I have to admit that you're spot-on, the Springboks were the better team, and are well deserved world champions. For the part time fans it wasn't a very entertaining final, but for those of us who have played the game for many years it was great to watch a superb war of attrition and highly tactical rugby between the 2 finalists. I don't usually condone companies using national sports as a way to sell merchandise (Adidas have really devalued the Haka!!!) But in Sunday's paper Nike summed up England's performance beautifully - In every scrum, maul and ruck we gave everything we had, then more. When we were tackled we tackled back harder. When we were written off we came back stronger. You may have wrenched our crown from our grasp, but in the desolation of defeat, through blood, sweat and tears, we know we gave our all, and we will return to reclaim our crown.

  9. Perhaps you should take up journalism, someone who tells it as it is, very rare

  10. Finally an honest statement!

Great game - great atmosphere - great world cup!

  11. Very well said.

  12. personally i think on the day England should have won. its rare to see it, but the Refaree was very biased, gave away disputable and easy penalties to south africa, and let south africa get away with aweful fouls!

not to mention, England did score a TRY! (yes i know it will be disputed for a while but it was a try) and that try changed the game completely, i knew it would either go one of two ways, either england will fight back and hit harder OR get pissed off and demoralised, and by the looks of the players they were gettin pissed cause they knew it wasnt going their way (not surprising, the ref was Irish...i dont have anything against the irish!)

BUT at the end of the day neither England or South Africa deserved to win the overall tournament, england won their previous matches by the skin of their teeth (but still played the big names on way to final), whereas south africa played the easier games.

NOPE, New Zealand in all honesty deserved to win on overall performance

  13. Oh dear - was there some rugby on? - I must have missed it. What a shame ! ! !
