EXCLUDING bugs of all kind, which animal is best suited to survive in any kind of environment?

For example, how would a gray wolf do in Africa? How would a Polar Bear do in Africa? How would an African Lion do in Alaska? Which animal would be best fit to survive in all types of terrain?

  1. Humans

  2. Man

    Rats

    Cockroaches

  3. Scientifically speaking, man.  His extraordinarily large brain pan allows him to adapt immediately, by whatever means of exploiting the other animals is necessary.  This is done on every level of existence from the survival needs to the creative and financial.  It is what has allowed the species to exist and evolve enough to change the physical environment now, rather than wait for natural selection to change it.

Given enough of the lessor species, variants in the environment would continue to lead to physical adjustment in the body, purely due to natural selection.

  4. Bacteria.

  5. I agree with the person who siad Cockroaches.

Theyve been around a really long time.

And if you think about it horses, too.

maybe except for water or under the sea.

Some horses can live in deserts or live in harsh conditions.

  6. rabbits....they are everywhere...high rate of multiplying as well....hard to remove completely from an area.....

  7. The cockroach.  Cockroaches have been around for millions of years and have survived through everything that went on before the present day.  They can survive without their head, and in that event only die because of starvation.  You cannot kill beetles unless you soak them in very (very) strong chemicals.  They can literally survive everywhere, and multiply very fast.  They're the ideal match to "survival of the fittest".

  8. For everyone who said cockroaches, the asker clearly stated in caps EXCLUDING bugs of all kind......... I think a cockroach would be considered a bug ...DUH!

Perhaps an armadillo with that hard armor shell I think it would be more adaptable to extreme climate differences as a form of insulation from both cold a heat.

  9. I would pick rodents such as rats and mice.   Simple animals such as arthropods might be even more able..  Actually Man is probably best able to survive.

Edit:   Since the questioner excluded bugs, I would say cockroaches is not an acceptable answer.

  10. water bear so cute and 6 legged and tiny

seriosly though water bears are microscopic and can survive in extreme tempuratures and extreme pressures they can survive in the deepest oceans andpast boiling water and sub zero cold also can survivew in vacume of space.

they do it by suspended animation. how do theknow the found some in a desert that were there for hundreds of years poured water on them and they came back to life.

    they live in lichen

    water bears are awesome!!

  11. rodents.. every continent and diome except antartica

but honestly.. arthopods of any kind.. i don't know why people who ask these kinds of questions are so prejudiced against them.. but they rule the world
