I have horses and we use IBM tanks as water drinkers which are always kept at least half full and have a hose pipe inter connecting them.

I really want some small fish or snails or something which will stop algae from growing all over the tanks and makingthe water horrible?

Each tank holds 1000 litres and there are 3 of them.

What would you reccomend that is small enough to get through hose pipes (ideally) but will do a brilliant job of eating algae?

Thank you!!

  1. Catfish are mainly carnivorous, and plecos are only good for algae when they are juveniles. As they mature they need meatier foods such as liver.

I would recommend some large, adult apple snails as they are more tolerant of temperature fluctuations than fish. A few in each tank and the algea should be gone in a week or so. They will NOT be able to fit through the pipes- but with a few in each tank, they won't need to. No algea will be on the insode of the pipes, as no sun can reach it.

  2. Apple snails and rams horn snails.

  3. well go to arizona gardens.com and the have this thing called the algae squad but you need to find out how many gallons it is

  4. loaches, plecs or catfish are brillant algae eaters
